1. NEET candidate delay: Bengaluru Traffic Police rule out event-related congestion

Bengaluru Traffic Police have issued a ‘fact-check report’ regarding a NEET candidate allegedly missing entry to an examination centre due to congestion on June 21. According to the report, based on CCTV camera footage, interactions with the candidate and her parents, and route analysis, the candidate left her residence at R.T. Nagar at 12.57 p.m. She reached the examination centre area at 1.33 pm, three minutes after the prescribed cut-off time for entry, which was 1.30 pm.

Police said CCTV camera footage and route analysis confirmed that the candidate departed from home 33 minutes before the cut-off time. Investigators also found that she had chosen a longer route, despite the availability of a shorter route that could have enabled quicker travel. The report stated that traffic conditions on the day were generally normal. There was no significant congestion attributable to a public event being held in Bengaluru.

2. Tejasvi Surya seeks transparency dashboard, faster Metro works in Bengaluru from new minister

Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya has urged the newly-appointed Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda to undertake a series of governance, infrastructure, and mobility reforms to address what he described as years of “administrative shortcomings” in the city. In a press conference, Mr. Surya detailed the suggestions he has placed before the new minister.

The MP proposed a 15-point agenda covering transparency, roads, public transport, urban planning, environment, waste management, housing, and governance. A key recommendation was the creation of a public-facing Unified Infrastructure Accountability Platform within 60 days.

3. Bengaluru triple murder: Three of family murdered, police suspect daughter and boyfriend

A 55-year-old man, his wife, and their younger daughter were murdered, allegedly by their elder daughter and her boyfriend at an apartment in east Bengaluru late on June 22 night. The deceased have been identified as Somasundar (55), Muthulakshmi (48), and Supriya (20). Their bodies were found in a flat at Sai Green Apartment in Dhamnika Layout, Seegehalli.

The accused, Shwetha, and her boyfriend Kenneth, were allegedly in a live-in relationship, to which the family was opposed, leading to frequent disputes. The couple and their younger daughter had visited Shwetha around 7 p.m. Police suspect that there was an argument over the relationship, which escalated, following which the accused stabbed the trio to death before fleeing.

4. Bengaluru to host BRICS heads of space agencies meet on June 23-24

The BRICS Heads of Space Agencies (HOSA) 2026 meet is being hosted in Bengaluru. India, as Chair of BRICS for 2026, is hosting HOSA on June 23 and 24. The theme is Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.

Heads and senior representatives of the space agencies of the 11 BRICS member countries — Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates — will attend the meeting.
