A review meeting on the prohibition of illicit arrack and narcotics control under the National Narcotics Coordination Portal (NCORD) was chaired by District Collector R. Sadheesh here on Wednesday (May 13, 2026). The weekly meeting with the Line Department and the enforcement wing reviewed the prohibitive measures to prevent movement of illicit arrack and sale of contraband substances such as tobacco and narcotics control, and assessed the checks in operation in the district. The meeting also assessed the village level prohibitive measures by the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation and Forest Department, public health and food safety in the enforcement of prohibition.

The Collector instructed all departments to be vigilant of brewing and circulation of illicit arrack and to push up stringent surveillance in the villages and sought for inter-department coordination.

He also called for creating awareness on the hazards of substance abuse among students in schools and colleges.
