A construction worker was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Vasudevanallur on Friday.
Police said construction worker Mariappan, 54, of Vasudevanallur did not return home after casting his vote at Kamarajar Girls’ High School on Thursday. When the family members started searching for him, they found the body of Mariappan lying in a drainage channel along the Vasudevanallur – Nerkattumseval Road on Friday.
Since the body had injuries, the relatives started protesting at Vasudevanallur on Friday and Saturday.
After pacifying the protestors, the Vasudevanallur police sent the body to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem and have collected the CCTV footages from the cameras fitted near the scene of crime to crack the case.
