The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Thiruvananthapuram Division, has issued a public safety advisory urging passengers to strictly avoid footboard travel and other unsafe practices while travelling by train, in view of the recent rise in incidents of people falling from train across the division.

In 2026, 37 people fell from trains in the division, resulting in serious injuries and fatalities. These figures underline the gravity of the issue and the urgent need for heightened public awareness and responsible travel behaviour.
