Shiv Sena State president Siddalinga Swami, who is also the religious head of Karuneshwar Mutt in Andola, on Monday said that he has been receiving life threat and also, facing repeated attempts of intimidation through social media after sharing a video related to remarks against Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei.
He said that Siddharoodh Khajuri has posted abusive and threatening comments against him, including threats of physical harm.
Addressing a press conference in Kalaburagi, Siddalinga Swami showed copies of social media posts and said that the online comments are part of a continuing pattern of targeted harassment.
He said that he has initiated legal proceedings and a case was registered against Siddharoodh Khajuri at Jewargi Police Station on June 11.
He also said that the same individual [Siddaroodh Khajuri] is involved in another incident concerning RTI activist Sidaramaiah Hiremath who was chased in a vehicle and attacked on the night of May 24. He said that a case has been registered in this connection with the Station Bazaar Police.
Siddalinga Swami said that these incidents indicate an organised attempt to intimidate him and his associates. He said that a wider network is involved in coordinated intimidation with support from certain politically influential individuals and officials.
He named Congress workers Raju Jane and Sanjay Patil and officer Bheemashankar Teggali as responsible for these developments.
He said that those responsible should be held accountable if any harm is caused to him or his associates.
“In Kalaburagi, individuals who should have been listed in police rowdy parade records are moving freely and are seen in proximity to Ministers and senior officials,” he said.
He sought a detailed probe, including scrutiny of call detail records, and action against all those involved.
