Three juveniles, who admitted to assisting the accused in a 2024 rape case registered at Chilamathur police station in Sri Sathya Sai district, were ordered by the Juvenile Justice Board, Anantapur, to be lodged in a government observation home for six months on Friday.
The juveniles were produced before Principal Magistrate R. Harika at a special session in connection with the case, registered under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the hearing, the minors confessed to their involvement in the offence, following which the board directed authorities to shift them to the Government Special Observation Home for Boys in Tirupati. The trio is expected to be brought to Tirupati on Saturday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) K.V. Mahesh said the juveniles had been found guilty of aiding the main accused in the case. The then Chilamathur Sub-Inspector, Munir Ahmed, investigated the case and filed the chargesheet.
