A 29-year-old man was found dead after his mother allegedly refused to give him money for alcohol and urged him to give up drinking in Hulimavu, on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Siddaraju, a native of Yadgir, who was living with his mother in a rented house at C.K. Palya. His mother works as a helper in a private school, while Siddaraju was unemployed and allegedly addicted to alcohol.

According to the police, Siddaraju asked his mother for money on Saturday night, as he did frequently. When she refused and advised him to stop drinking, he allegedly left the house.

On Sunday morning, Siddaraju lay down in front of the rear wheel of a garbage truck, which ran over him, killing him on the spot.

The police said CCTV footage from the area was examined, and it reportedly showed Siddaraju intentionally placing his head under the truck's rear wheel as it moved forward, confirming it to be a case of suicide.

The garbage truck driver was believed to have been unaware of the incident and drove away from the spot. The police have launched a search to trace and question the driver.

A case has been registered at the Hulimavu Police Station, and further investigation is under way.
