With several districts in Karnataka experiencing rising mercury levels and heatwaves, the Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare Services has issued an advisory on measures to be taken at healthcare institutions for the management of health problems caused by excessive heat and prevention of risks and deaths from heatstroke.
The measures include the implementation of Heat Stroke Management Rooms in hospitals, with two beds in community health centres, five in taluk hospitals and 10 in district hospitals. It has been instructed that the rooms be functional every year from March 1 to July 31.
