BJP leader K. Annamalai said that a wave in favour of NDA is visible across Tamil Nadu.
He was addressing voters seeking support from BJP State president and candidate for Sattur Assembly constituency, Nainar Nagenthran, at Alangulam on Saturday.
Stating that he has been touring across Tamil Nadu, Mr. Annamalai said that an NDA wave was visible and AIADMK general secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, would become the Chief Minister post election.
The one reason for which DMK should be dethroned is that 39,900 cases have been reported of sexual assault against children. The basic duty of a Government is to protect its citizens. “But, women and children are not safe under the DMK Government,” he said.
He described DMK as a slave to the Congress which is not in power in the Centre for the last 12 years. Besides, the strength of the national party is on the decline everywhere.
“But, still the DMK has given more seats to the Congress while reducing seats to its other alliance partners like the Left and VCK. This is only because the Congress has a secret file about the corruption of the DMK,” he charged.
The DMK has no rights to say that the AIADMK was a slave to the BJP, he said.
The DMK has given ₹37,000 under the Mahalir Urimai Thogai scheme which translates into ₹20 a day. However, the debt burden of each family card holder increased to ₹150 a day. “This means the DMK has taken ₹130 from each family,” he said.
Mr. Annamalai said that Mr. Nainar will bring more development to the constituency through his close relationship with the Prime Minister.
Later, addressing an election campaign at Rajapalayam, Mr. Annamalai said that while the price of petrol and diesel had increased manifold in the neighbouring Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the efficient governnance by the Centre has kept the price of fuel under control despit the war in Iran.
The Centre had allotted mega textile park at a cost of ₹1,920 crore. But, the DMK could not implement the project that would generate 20,000 jobs.
He was seeking votes for the BJP candidate, J. Priscilla Pandian.
