The National Pulse Polio immunisation campaign will be conducted across Erode district on June 28, targeting around 1.5 lakh children below the age of five.
District Collector S. Kandasamy said in a press release that oral polio vaccine will be administered to all children below five years of age, irrespective of the number of doses they may have already received.
A total of 1,385 vaccination booths will function across the district at government hospitals, primary health centres, sub-health centres, the Government Erode Medical College Hospital at Perundurai, schools, anganwadi centres, and toll plazas on national highways. Special booths have been established in border areas, slums and localities inhabited by migrant workers. Mobile teams will administer the vaccine to children at bus stands, railway stations and other public places, the release added.
The Collector appealed to parents to ensure that all children below five years of age are taken to the nearest vaccination booth on June 28 to receive the oral polio vaccine. A follow-up drive will be carried out from June 29 to July 4 through house-to-house visits to vaccinate children who may have been missed during the campaign, the release added.
