A newly constructed 66 kV power transmission line at Kattemalalavadi village in Hunsur taluk is scheduled to be commissioned after May 24, with the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) issuing a public advisory warning residents against unsafe activities near power infrastructure.

According to the Mysuru Projects Division, the double-circuit 66 kV transmission line has been laid over a distance of about 0.60 km. The line is connected to the existing Ilavala–Hunsur 66 kV transmission network and passes through Kattemalalavadi village limits before feeding power to the newly established 66/11 kV Kattemalalavadi power distribution station.

Ahead of the energisation of the line, KPTCL has urged the public to strictly follow safety measures around transmission towers and power lines.

The corporation warned people against tying cattle to transmission towers, removing metal components from the structures, climbing towers, touching transmission lines, planting trees beneath the towers, throwing wires, ropes or other objects onto them, and flying kites in the vicinity of the transmission corridor.

Officials said such activities pose serious risks and could result in electrical accidents and fatalities.

KPTCL also stated that it would not be held responsible for any accidents or loss of life arising from violations of the safety instructions, according to a statement issued by the executive engineer of the Projects Division, Mysuru.
