Students aged between 62 and 6 showed off their riding skills at the barrel racing and obstacles competitions organised by Shri Surya Horse Riding Training Centre and Save Native Horses in Srirangam on Saturday.
The evening programme saw participants riding native horses through an obstacle course with 10 challenging points in the first round. This was followed by barrel racing, a timed event where horse and rider complete a clover leaf pattern around three barrels.
P. Prathyangira, chief executive officer, Sai Hi-Tech Global Matriculation School and S. Balasubramanian, founder, Shri Surya Horse Riding Training Centre, spoke.
Gowthaman Vetrikannan, horseman and founder of Nila Horse Riding Academy, was the official judge of the competitions.
