Palakkad District Collector M.S. Madhavikutty has imposed a ban on the sale and use of firecrackers in the district on Monday (May 4) and Tuesday (May 5) in connection with the announcement of election results. All firecracker manufacturing and sales units will remain closed on these days.
The bursting of firecrackers during victory celebrations has also been prohibited. Tahsildars and inspectors in charge of police stations in the district have been directed to ensure that all firecracker shops within their jurisdiction remain shut.
