Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Saturday (April 12, 2026) visited Chandni Chowk and interacted with traders, residents and tourists to review civic and infrastructure issues in the historic market.
In a post on X, the official handle of the L-G said that while “years of neglect have taken a toll, the turnaround has begun.” The post added that the administration is moving towards a “model of collaborative governance” to restore the area’s character.
Mr. Sandhu stressed the need for coordination among agencies, and said the Delhi Police, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Public Works Department had been directed to work together to address local challenges.
During the visit, he said residents and traders raised several concerns and were asked to submit them in writing. “People shared their problems. I have requested them to write and send the 10 main points to us, and we will call them and follow up on those,” he said.
He added that every effort would be made to address the issues, noting that “Chandni Chowk is the heart of our city, and its prosperity is important for the city.”
