K. Elambahavath on Monday (May 18) assumed office as the Collector of the Salem district and received petitions from the public during the weekly grievance redressal meeting. The previous District Collector, A. Arun Thamburaj, had been transferred to Chennai.
During the meeting, the Collector received 285 petitions, including those related to old-age pension, land patta, patta transfer, community certificate, jobs, loans, financial assistance, drinking water connection, roads and street lights.
The Collector also received petitions from 15 differently abled people at the district Differently Abled Welfare Office and distributed welfare assistance worth ₹3.47 lakh to five differently abled beneficiaries, including battery-operated wheel chairs and hearing aids.
At the weekly grievance redressal day meeting held in Namakkal, District Collector Durgamoorthi received 410 petitions.
