Keeping the safety of devotees, paying a visit to the 2027 Godavari pushkarams, as a priority, East Godavari District Collector Ch. Kirthi announced on Sunday the deployment of over 4,800 professional swimmers and 1,500 traditional fishing boats along the banks of Godavari River for the once-in-a-12-year event.
As many as 4.85 crore devotees took a holy dip in the Godavari river during the 2015 pushkarams, and for the upcoming spiritual event, slated to be held between June 25 and July 7 in 2027, around 10 crore devotees are expected to turn up.
