The newly constructed Annadanam Bhavan and Prasadam Preparation Centre at the famous Sri Kanaka Durga Temple atop Indrakeeladri Hill will be inaugurated before July 15, with the auspicious date for the opening to be finalised by Monday evening (June 22, 2026), as directed by Endowments Commissioner K. Ramachandra Mohan.

During a whirlwind inspection of the temple premises on Sunday (June 21), the Commissioner reviewed several ongoing development projects alongside temple authorities, engineering officials, and members of the trust board. He stated that the State government is firmly committed to enhancing pilgrim amenities and providing world-class infrastructure at the renowned shrine.

The Commissioner inspected the newly renovated ‘Ashirvachana Mandapam,’ where flooring work has recently been completed, and expressed satisfaction with the progress.

He later conducted a detailed inspection of the new Annadanam Bhavan and the Prasadam Preparation Centre (Potu), both of which are in the final stages of construction in the foothill area. Taking into account the convenience of pilgrims and crowd management requirements, he instructed engineering officials to carry out certain essential modifications and additions to the buildings before they are opened to the public.

Making it clear that the two facilities must be inaugurated before July 15 under any circumstances, Mr. Ramachandra Mohan directed the temple Executive Officer to consult the temple’s Vedic Committee and finalise the auspicious muhurtham and inauguration date by Monday evening. A comprehensive report on the proposed schedule is to be submitted to him thereafter.

The Commissioner also instructed engineering officials and contractors to work in close coordination and complete the remaining work on a war footing to ensure that the facilities are ready for inauguration during the second week of July.

He noted that pilgrim footfall on Indrakeeladri would significantly increase during the forthcoming ‘Ashada Sare Samarpana’ and Shakambari festivals. He stated that the availability of the new Annadanam Bhavan and Prasadam Preparation Centre before the festivities would greatly improve the experience and convenience for devotees.

Reviewing other infrastructure projects, the Commissioner called for the expedited land acquisition process required for the completion of the proposed queue complex on the hill.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to the development of the Durga temple, he stated that special emphasis was being placed on creating international-standard facilities for devotees visiting the shrine.

The inspection was attended by Temple Trust Board Chairman Borra Radhakrishna, Executive Officer V.K. Seena Naik, trust board members A. Srinivasa Rao, T. Harikrishna, P. Raghava Raju and S. Saritha, besides engineering officials of the temple.
