Yoga a panacea for discipline, health and wellness, says ...
The Hindu Bureau & K. Umashanker · 2026-06-15 · via The Hindu: Latest News today from India and the World, Breaking news, Top Headlines and Trending News Videos.

Minister of Health and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav on Monday (June 15, 2026) appealed to the people to incorporate yoga into their daily life, as it has proven to be the panacea for promoting discipline, concentration, confidence, and emotional resilience.

The Minister participated in a special Yogandhra-2026 programme, which is part of the lead-up to International Yoga Day on June 21. The event was organised for weavers, traders, and members of the business community in Dharmavaram of Sri Sathya Sai district.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister highlighted that yoga was one of the most effective tools for preventing lifestyle-related ailments and promoting overall well-being. “Changing lifestyles, rising stress levels, and unhealthy habits are contributing to a growing burden of multiple diseases. Prevention through regular yoga practice is far more effective than seeking treatment after illness strikes,” Mr. Satya Kumar Yadav said.

The Minister said that people should dedicate at least 45 minutes to an hour every day to yoga and warm-up exercises, describing it as a practice that strengthens the body, calms the mind, and promotes positive thinking.

District Collector A. Shyam Prasad said that since time immemorial, there has been a deep connection between yoga and nature. “Many traditional asanas are inspired by animals, birds, and cause-and-effect dynamics in nature. A brief daily yoga session could improve blood circulation, enhance oxygen flow, and leave practitioners feeling energetic and peaceful,” the Collector said.

Mr. Shyam Prasad further appealed to the people to fully utilise the digital platforms and online resources to learn and practise yoga regularly.
