Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) president K. Pawan Kalyan has strongly condemned the continued detention of Hindu spiritual leader and ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh, alleging denial of justice and intimidation of his legal representatives.

In a strongly worded statement posted on X on Tuesday, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said Chinmoy Krishna Das had spent over 500 days in jail and was once again denied bail. Questioning the state of justice in Bangladesh, he alleged that even lawyers representing the monk were being “intimidated, threatened and silenced in court corridors.”

“Is advocating for the rights of the minority Hindu community a crime?” Mr. Pawan Kalyan asked, adding that “when a saffron-clad soul is treated like a criminal for raising his voice, the world cannot remain silent.”

Appealing to the Government of Bangladesh to provide immediate medical assistance and ensure fair justice to the jailed monk, he urged the authorities to grant bail to Chinmoy Krishna Das at the earliest.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan also criticised what he termed “pseudo-secularists and selective human rights activists” across the world, accusing them of remaining silent on the issue. “Apparently, your humanity has a filter,” he remarked.

Tagging international human rights bodies and institutions, including the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, the United Nations Human Rights Office and the UN Human Rights Council, the Jana Sena chief called for global attention to the issue and used the hashtag #FreeChinmoyKrishnaDas.
