In a closely fought contest in Kongad, K.A. Thulasi of the United Democratic Front (UDF) emerged victorious against the Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) incumbent K. Shanthakumari. It is a personal and political win for her husband and Palakkad MP V.K. Sreekandan as well, as he was actively involved in her campaign, putting in sustained efforts on the ground.

Kongad, which falls within Mr. Sreekandan’s Lok Sabha constituency, became a key focus for him throughout the election. His close coordination with local UDF workers and leaders played a crucial role in turning the tide in what was seen as a tough battle.
