Political commentator Tiruchi Surya and YouTuber Mukthar Ahmed have been detained under the Goondas Act. The orders were issued by Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner A. Amalraj. 

Last week, the Cyber Crime Wing of the city police arrested Tiruchi Surya, 33, son of DMK MP Tiruchi Siva, based on a complaint lodged by bike racer and BJP Sports and Skill Development cell state secretary Alisha Abdullah for making derogatory remarks aimed at her. Subsequently the police also arrested YouTuber Mukthar, who participated in the discussion in which the remarks were made.

Both of them were lodged in prison and served detention orders, said police sources.
