The “Samskara Shibiram”—a twenty-day summer camp aimed at instilling moral values in children—came to a grand close at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram here on Sunday (May 24, 2026).

The students were taught prayers, shlokas, Bhagavad-Gita chanting, moral and spiritual stories, personality development activities, yogasanas, bhajans, and sankeertanas. Similarly, the participating children also tried their hands at drawing, archery, games, and other value-oriented activities, ensuring their overall development.

At the valedictory session held on Sunday, Ashrama’s secretary Swamy Sukritananda explained that the programme was aimed at not only inculcating moral values in children, but also filling qualities like discipline, patriotism, dedication towards the nation and a sense of responsibility towards the society, thus shaping them as noble citizens of the country.

Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) Vice Chancellor Prof. Rani Sadasiva Murty hailed the Ashrama’s dedication to keeping the children positively engaged during the summer but also cautioned parents to sustain the momentum by maintaining the same environment at home.

Addressing the parents at the meeting, he compared the children to raw gold derived from mines that required polishing through such camps to be crafted into ornaments and become useful to society. He urged them not to allow their children to become addicted to mobile phones or any other forms of technology that utilise social media platforms, which, he stated, could reduce them to robots devoid of creativity.

The students displayed their skills in yoga, elocution, story telling and acting by performing at the end of the camp, much to the delight of their parents.
