Kalaburagi is set to witness a surge of spiritual fervour as the 622nd Urs-e-Sharif of the revered 14th-century Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Banda Nawaz Gesudaraz will begin at the 600-year-old Khwaja Banda Nawaz Dargah on Sunday (May 3).
The three-day annual observance, held on the 15th day of Zul-Qa’dah in the Islamic calendar, is expected to draw thousands of devotees from across the country and abroad, cutting across religious and cultural boundaries. The dargah, an enduring symbol of Deccan’s syncretic traditions, has been adorned to mark the occasion.
