The annual government exhibition began at the Tamukkum Grounds here on Sunday.
Inaugurating the expo, Tamil Nadu Minister for School Education, Tamil Development and Information and Public Relations A Rajmohan said that due to multiple reasons, the exhibition could not be conducted in April. Expressing confidence on the people of Madurai, he said that every day it is like a festival in this city and hence, the residents would visit the exhibition and make it a big success.
He said that the government, within a short span, established as many as 32 stalls here displaying the schemes and the features of every project from each department and among others. Appreciating the police department, Mr. Rajmohan said that the Singappen Special Police stall stood unique and attractive.
He was confident that the people would benefit from the exhibition as there are aplenty of information and assured that from next year, the government would conduct during summer holidays coinciding with the name - Chithirai exhibition.
Madurai District Collector P, Akash, Corporation Commissioner Gaurav Kumar and other officials from various departments were present.
Minister for Energy and Law C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar, MLAs S Karthikeyan, A. Kallanai, S.R. Thangapandian, M.V. Karuppiah and M. Vijay and Corporation Deputy Mayor T. Nagarajan and others participated.
