In a surprise late-night move, S. Ravi, who headed State Intelligence in Karnataka, was shunted out and replaced by Labhu Ram, an officer junior to him, on April 28. Mr. Ram is the fourth Intelligence Chief in the three-year tenure of this government led by Siddaramaiah.
K.V. Sharath Chandra and Hemanth Nimbalkar held the post before Mr. Ravi, and all three were removed in sudden moves — Mr. Nimbalkar over the stampede during the RCB victory celebrations and the other two with no clear explanations.
