Deputy Commissioner Harshal Bhoyar, who is also the chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, has appealed to residents in Yadgir district to take all necessary initiatives to prevent possible harm from the acute temperature rise in the next five days.

In a release here on Wednesday, Mr. Bhoyar said that as per the forecast of the India Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of an increase in the maximum temperature by two-three degrees Celsius in the district in the next five days.

In this context, the District Disaster Management Authority has issued an advisory to the public as a precautionary measure, as there is a possibility of heatstroke and heat exhaustion affecting health, the Deputy Commissioner said.

He said that the people should avoid going outside between noon and 4 p.m. and drink more water or buttermilk to avoid dehydration.

“Wear light clothes. Use hats or umbrellas while going out on emergency work. Do not engage in activities or work that require more physical strength,” he said.

He also said that people should avoid drinking cold water immediately after coming home from outside. People have to go to nearby hospitals if they experience any illness related to heatwave, he added.
