Annamayya District Joint Collector Shiv Narayan Sharma on Friday directed municipal officials to expedite civic infrastructure works and strengthen drinking water management in Madanapalle municipality in view of the increased summer demand.
Reviewing civic services with municipal authorities here, the Joint Collector assessed the status of drinking water supply, sanitation, road maintenance, drainage, tax collection, and ongoing beautification works across the town. “Top priority should be given to resolving the drinking water issue in all habitations of the municipality,” Mr. Shiv Narayan said.
Officials informed him that 14 borewells in Ramarao Colony, Reddys Colony, Maruthi Nagar, and the Weekly Market area had dried up due to declining groundwater levels. To tackle the shortage, seven new borewells were being drilled and made operational, while plans were underway to take up additional borewells in other vulnerable areas.
Mr. Shiv Narayan also directed officials to conduct regular water quality checks, ensure attendance of sanitation workers, protect municipal parks from encroachments, and intensify ward-wise drives for the collection of property tax and water charges.
