The ACB Special Court, Kurnool, on Friday sentenced retired Panchayat Raj Assistant Engineer (AE) Bandaru Chinna Pullaiah to seven years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for accepting a ₹20,000 bribe from a person in October 2018.
The accused, while serving as Assistant Engineer in Amadagur mandal of Anantapur district, had allegedly demanded ₹30,000 for processing bills related to a CC road laid by the complainant.
Chinna Pullaiah initially accepted ₹10,000 and later demanded the remaining amount for forwarding the bills to higher authorities. He retired from service in 2020.
The ACB Special Court also imposed a fine of ₹2 lakh and directed that the amount be paid to the complainant as compensation, ACB officials said in a release on Friday.
