Thoothukudi District Superintendent of Police C. Madhan inaugurated the newly installed CCTV cameras and Public Address (PA) system at Anna Bus Stand in Thoothukudi.

To enhance the safety and security of women and children safety at the bus stand, 37 CCTV surveillance cameras were installed across bus stand premises including passenger waiting areas and boarding and alighting points. In addition, a PA system has been set up at both inside and outside the bus stand to issue alerts and create public awareness among commuters.

The CCTV cameras and PA system can be directly monitored and operated by police personnel from an integrated modern police control room and surveillance centre set up at Thoothukudi south police station premises.

The cameras and PA system were funded by Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
