Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy called upon Anganwadi teachers to make optimum use of the 5G smartphones being given to them for strengthening Anganwadi services thereby ensuring early childhood care, education and nutrition services.
He was speaking at a function held as part of “Poshan Pakhwada” programme held at the MPDO’s office in Tirumalayapalem of Khammam district on Saturday. The minister handed over smartphones to the Anganwadi teachers of the mandal on the occasion.
In all, smartphones worth ₹2.03 crore were distributed to the Anganwadi teachers in the entire district at separate functions held on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said a notification to fill 15,000 Anganwadi teacher posts in the State will be released soon. Construction of permanent buildings will be taken up for 501 Anganwadi centres, which are functioning from the rented buildings in Khammam district, he said, asserting that the Congress government is committed to increasing the wages of the Anganwadi teachers and helpers.
Earlier, the Revenue Minister laid the foundation stone for the road and culvert works at Mangalagudem village at an estimated cost of ₹2.50 crore in Khammam rural mandal. He also performed bhoomi puja for Autonagar-Maddulapalli road works at Warangal crossroads in Khammam.
He also paid tributes to Mahatma Phule on his birth anniversary. Khammam Additional Collector P. Srinivas Reddy and others were present.
