Posing as customer care executives of a telecom company, fraudsters allegedly duped a 47-year-old private firm employee from HSR Layout of ₹11.9 lakh under the pretext of activating an e-SIM card.
According to the police, the victim received a call on May 7. The caller allegedly introduced himself as a customer care executive of Airtel and convinced him to activate an e-SIM service.
Investigators said the fraudster gained control of the complainant’s mobile number on another device, enabling unauthorised access to banking SMS alerts and OTPs linked to his account.
