A 60-year-old tribal farmer was brutally murdered by unidentified persons at Velapalem village under Seekari panchayat in Pedabayalu mandal of Alluri Sitharama Raju district late on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as L. Simhachalam, a resident of Velapalem village. According to the Pedabayalu police, the assailants attacked Simhachalam with a sharp weapon, inflicting grievous head injuries. He died on the spot and was found lying in a pool of blood.
A case has been registered and investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those involved in the murder.
