Stray cattle menace

Stray cattle have become a growing menace on city roads, adding to the problems already caused by stray dogs. Cattle roam freely on residential streets and busy junctions, posing a danger to pedestrians and motorists.

Despite the safety risks, little action appears to have been taken against owners. Madurai Corporation should enforce existing rules and ensure safer streets.

Vaithianathan Subramanian,

Narayanapuram.

Poor infrastructure

The Police Quarters at Mottamalai near Rajapalayam lacks basic infrastructure. The internal roads are in poor a condition, making commuting difficult for residents, particularly schoolchildren and senior citizens.

Poor mobile signal and internet connectivity further inconvenience students and residents who rely on digital services for education and communication.

The district administration should improve the roads and ensure reliable telecom connectivity in the area.

Subha,

Pasumalai.

Improve rail connectivity

The line block at Tirunelveli Junction has resulted in the short termination and cancellation of several trains, making it difficult for passengers. Terminating trains such as Antyodaya Express in Madurai, instead of Dindigul, would offer better rail and road connectivity. Likewise, terminating the Nellai Express at Vanchi Maniyachi causes hardship due to limited transport links.

The Southern Railway should review these temporary arrangements and adopt more passenger-friendly operational planning during the line block.

C.A.Pradeep,

Moondrumavadi Pudur.

Clear encroachments

Footpaths around the Meenakshi Amman Temple and along Chithirai, Masi and Veli Streets in Madurai are encroached upon by vendors, shops and parked two-wheelers.

With heavy traffic and thousands of devotees, senior citizens, children and persons with disabilities are exposed to the risk of accidents.

Madurai Corporation and Traffic Police should remove encroachments and restore pavements for pedestrian use.

T.R. Pratap Chandran,

Villapuram.
