The inauguration of the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS), Sanathnagar in Hyderabad is likely to be held on June 11, according to a senior Health Department official. The hospital was earlier expected to be inaugurated around Telangana Formation Day on June 2, but the programme has been tentatively rescheduled owing to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s prior engagements.
The official said the inauguration is expected to be accompanied by a public meeting, during which the Chief Minister may issue appointment and posting orders to doctors, nurses and other healthcare personnel who will be deployed at the facility.
Telangana Director of Medical Education (DME) A. Narendar Kumar said almost all major works at the institution have been completed. He added that the facility is also being equipped with international suites and premium patient rooms, which are among the final components awaiting completion before the hospital becomes fully operational.

TIMS Sanathnagar is being developed as a standalone postgraduate teaching and healthcare institution without an attached undergraduate medical college. To support postgraduate medical education and training, the government is constructing a 100-room hostel for postgraduate students on the campus.
The hospital has been functioning in trial-run mode since May 1. According to nodal officer Mahboob Khan, the facility has been recording an average daily footfall of around 80 outpatients. The hospital is also conducting approximately 10 to 15 X-rays and nearly 20 laboratory investigations every day as part of its soft launch operations.
He said the trial run has also enabled hospital administrators to identify and address operational challenges before full-scale operations. Special attention is being given to maintaining uninterrupted air-conditioning in critical diagnostic areas such as CT scan, MRI and ultrasound units.
