AIADMK Puducherry unit secretary and MLA elect A. Anbalagan on Thursday (May 7, 2026) said party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami was ‘saddened’ over the defeat of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin from Kolathur constituency in the Assembly elections.

“Why should anyone think of even ditching such a leader like Mr. Palaniswami who is so big hearted that he felt even sad over the defeat of Mr. Stalin.? When I met Mr. Palaniswami in Chennai, he was talking to me about the defeat of Mr Stalin in Kolathur. Mr. Palaniswami said he (Mr. Stalin) has been in public service for decades and people could have been kind to him. He shouldn’t have lost in Kolathur,” Mr. Anbalagan told media .

Confirming that some newly elected legislators of the AIADMK from Tamil Nadu are accommodated in a resort here on the ‘directions’ of Mr. Palaniswami, Mr. Anbalgan said that all legislators are united under the leadership of party general secretary. “There is no faction, all elected MLAs are here on the directions of Mr. Palaniswami. They are here not because of any directions given by some other leader. The elected members will follow whatever decisions our leader takes,” he said.

Asked why the elected representatives are staying in a resort in Puducherry, Mr. Anbalagan said the climate was better in Puducherry than Chennai. “It is more cool here,” he added.

According to police sources, there are around 30 elected legislators staying in RKN Beach Resort at Pudukuppam. There are possibility of more joining in a day. The legislators reached Puducherry on Wednesday (May 6) and were first accommodated at The Shore Thrishvam. As Thrishvam resort had some advance online bookings for Friday (May 8), the AIADMK members were moved to the nearby RKN on Thursday (May 7) afternoon, police said.
