The Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned ₹369.20 crore for the modernisation of the Guntur channel, clearing a long-pending irrigation proposal for the district. The project, proposed by Union Minister of State for Rural Development Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, was approved on Monday (May 4, 2026) through G.O. Rt. No. 217.
The order has been issued by Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad, who is also heading the Water Resources department as Special Chief Secretary (FAC).
