IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Monday met Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and sought Centre’s support to develop a logistics hub in Zaheerabad as well as approval for plug-and-play industrial parks planned across the State and the multi-modal logistics park in Manoharabad.

Highlighting an industrial ecosystem capable of meeting future challenges that the State government is proposing as part of the Telangana Rising Vision 2047 and how it will also play a key role in realising Viksit Bharat goals, Mr. Sridhar Babu during the meeting in Delhi submitted a memorandum on several issues.

Apprising the Union Minister about Hyundai Group’s proposal to establish a ₹8,500 crore Global Innovation and R&D Centre in Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City, he sought Centre’s support in develop a logistics hub there.

Further, he requested approval for a multi-modal logistics park being developed in Manoharabad in Medak district with an investment of ₹2,050 crore in partnership with the National Highways Logistics Management Ltd (NHLML).

He sought Centre’s approvals for the 15–20 plug-and-play industrial parks the State government is developing under Bhavya Scheme Phase 1 and for which preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) is under way. If the approvals are granted during the June–July 2026 application window, it would significantly strengthen the State’s manufacturing sector.

In a release on the meeting, Mr. Sridhar Babu’s office said he specifically highlighted to Mr. Goyal the need to sanction an aero-defence corridor for Telangana.

The State government is ready to establish a National Design Centre in Hyderabad and requested the Centre’s support. He also sought allocation of two mega leather parks under the Mega Leather, Footwear and Accessories Cluster Development (MLFACD) Scheme.

Mr. Sridhar Babu also underscored the need for funding under the Trade Infrastructure for Exports Scheme for an irradiation facility being set up at Koheda in Rangareddy district. He also urged the Centre to restore the import duty on crude palm oil to 44% keeping in mind the interests of palm oil farmers.

A need for special attention to Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals (RFCL) plant and allocation of its entire urea production to Telangana figured in the discussion. Mr. Sridhar Babu said such a step is necessary in view of the fertilizer supply disruptions experienced last year.
