Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed Director General of Police C.V. Anand to ensure that public movement is not disrupted during his convoy movement or that of other dignitaries across the State.

The direction came after the Chief Minister took serious note of traffic congestion near the airport on Wednesday (May 6, 2026) while he was travelling to Delhi. He instructed officials to ensure that people are not made to wait on roads for prolonged periods due to convoy arrangements.

The Chief Minister directed the DGP to initiate action against officials responsible for lapses and stressed that vehicles coming from the opposite direction should not be unnecessarily stopped.

DGP holds video conference

Following the instructions, the DGP held a video conference with police officers of the rank of sub-inspector and above from law and order and traffic wings across commissionerates in the State.

During the review, Mr. Anand said the repeated concern expressed by the Chief Minister underlined the seriousness of the issue and asked field officers to regulate traffic in a streamlined manner instead of completely halting vehicular movement during convoy passages.

He said a dedicated Traffic Bureau headed by an Additional DGP would soon be established to strengthen traffic management across the State, with modalities currently being finalised.

The DGP also directed officials to prepare alternative traffic routes in advance, particularly during peak hours, and to ensure heightened vigilance around the airport.

In view of the approaching monsoon season, officers were instructed to take proactive steps to prevent water stagnation and resultant traffic congestion.

The DGP also made it clear that illegal parking on the Outer Ring Road would not be tolerated and directed law and order personnel to work in coordination with traffic police and other wings for effective traffic regulation. Senior police officials, including the Commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri, participated in the video conference.
