Policing with a drone camera has turned out to be a successful exercise for the Periyanaickenpalayam police. The drone attached with speakers was utilised by a police team to warn customers at a TASMAC outlet in Kottai Pirivu.

The aerial footage depicts the people scattered outside the outlet rushing inside the bar after listening to the warning that they would otherwise be booked for consuming alcohol in public.

According to police officials, surveillance with drones with a a few kilometres of operational range would bring about the intended deterrent effect. The police, sources added, intend to carry out surveillance at locations hitherto considered inaccessible.
