The CPI district executive meeting criticised party State secretary Binoy Viswam while reviewing the electoral setback suffered by the LDF in the State.
The meeting accused Mr. Viswam of triggering unnecessary controversies over the ASHA workers’ protest and the PM SHRI issue, and observed that his stance had partly contributed to the LDF’s poor electoral performance.
The functioning of CPI Ministers also came under severe criticism, with their performance described as ineffective. The meeting further criticised the LDF’s election campaign for being overly centred around outgoing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Members alleged that Mr. Viswam’s stand on the ASHA workers’ agitation and the PM SHRI issue had put the government on the defensive, ultimately affecting the alliance’s prospects in the election.
Outgoing Revenue Minister K. Rajan was criticised for failing to resolve the land issue in Attappady, while outgoing Agriculture Minister P. Prasad and Civil Supplies Minister G.R. Anil were faulted for not intervening effectively in paddy procurement.
The meeting also alleged that CPI-held departments were largely controlled by bureaucrats rather than Ministers. At the same time, some members argued that the Chief Minister alone should not be held responsible for the electoral defeat.
