The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Trade Unions of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporations has called for an indefinite Statewide strike from May 20. The unions have been demanding a 25% salary hike effective from January 2024, among other things.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Jyothi Ananthasubba Rao, president of the KSRTC Staff and Workers’ Federation, announced the protest. She said that the government had offered only a 7% increase, following negotiations, to be implemented from April 1, 2025, as against their demand. “This is unacceptable,” Ms. Rao said.
