‘Aarogya Santhai’, a special millets and value addition festival, was held at Gandhi Memorial Museum. The event was organised by Green Fem Women Collective with the support of VAPS Training Centre.
According to a press release, ‘Aarogya Santhai’ was organised as a special millets and value addition festival focusing on healthy food practices, millet-based products, and sustainable local living. The market was conducted to encourage people to reconnect with healthy lifestyles and eco-conscious consumption.
The event brought together grassroots-level women entrepreneurs and consumers. The products showcased in the market were manufactured by women entrepreneurs themselves with compassion, responsibility, and concern for community well-being. The initiative created a direct link between local producers and customers, thereby strengthening the local economy and supporting women-led enterprises.
The market featured around 50 stalls that displayed millet food products, value-added traditional foods, natural vegetables and greens, herbal products, homemade food items, spices, sanitary napkins, Panchagavya products, eco-friendly cosmetics, cotton saris, handicrafts, jute and cloth bags, palm leaf products, and other environmentally sustainable products.
President of Green Fem R. Elamathi, Gandhi Memorial Museum Education Officer R Natarajan, Meenakshi Mission Hospital Head of Research and Development P. Sundarraj, Project Officer of VAPS M. Subburajan and others were present at the event.
