Citizens’ Voice Coimbatore has alleged that the implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005 is being diluted across several government departments, and has urged the Tamil Nadu State Information Commission to intervene.
In a petition submitted to the State Information Commissioner, the outfit said officials were increasingly treating RTI applicants as adversaries rather than facilitating access to information. It pointed to instances of evasive replies, rejection of applications on technical grounds, and routine transfer of petitions without providing information.
