The Cannes Contemporary Art Biennale held in France last week alongside the 79th Cannes International Film Festival featured the participation of an artist from Ottapalam, Kerala.
Anakha Nair, who is currently based in the U.S., was among 40 artists from across the world selected to showcase their works at the event. She was taking part in the event for the third consecutive year.
Ms. Nair presented her latest oil painting Subhadra, which portrays a mythological female figure with expressive eyes, a calm smile and traditional ornaments. A majestic lion stands behind her with a steady, watchful gaze, symbolising strength and protection. The painting combines divinity, femininity and wilderness within a single frame.
