Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath on Saturday (May 16, 2026) organised free wedding for 60 couples on the occasion of the birthday of his father and former Rajya Sabha member T.G. Venkatesh.
At the event held at a private hotel in the city, Mr. Venkatesh and his family members participated and distributed cheques worth ₹80,000 to each couple. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bharath stated that poor families face financial difficulties when performing marriages. Keeping this in mind, and to mark his father’s birthday, we have been organising free weddings every year, irrespective of caste and religion, he added.
The newlywed couples were given silk garments, toe rings, and gold mangalsutra pendants in advance. He urged the couples not to fall prey to bad habits and to strive for success in life. Mr. Bharath stated that they are undertaking service activities without regard for political affiliations. He noted that his father had worked tirelessly for the development of Kurnool, and he is following in his footsteps.
