A parade of criminals against whom history sheets had been opened in police stations falling within the Tiruchi Rural police limits was conducted here on Sunday during which they were advised to change their behaviour and mend ways failing which they would have to face appropriate action.
As many as 364 history sheet offenders were lined up at the Tiruchi District Armed Reserve ground here and segregated police sub division wise in the presence of the Superintendent of Police, Tiruchi S. Selvanagarathinam.
Also present were three Additional Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police of the respective subdivision and the jurisdictional Inspectors of Police. The Superintendent of Police informed the history sheeters regarding the purpose of conducting the parade and advised them to change their behaviour and mend their ways to lead a disciplined life keeping in mind their family situation and children.
The SP made it clear to the history sheeters about the kind of action that would be initiated against them if they fail to mend their behaviour. The station-wise history sheets of every criminal were checked and the shortcomings addressed.
The SP warned of stern action against those history sheeters found indulging in crimes. The objective behind organising the parade of history sheeters was to bring about a positive change in their lives. Such a parade had not been held in Tiruchi district so far, a police press release said.
