A nearly 40-year-old Peltophorum tree near Shyamlal in Begumpet was translocated on Monday as part of ongoing junction improvement and traffic management measures aimed at easing vehicular movement and improving commuter safety.
According to traffic police officials, the tree was found to be obstructing the traffic flow. Following permissions from the concerned authorities, officials undertook a special operation to shift the tree to the Begumpet Graveyard premises while ensuring its preservation.
The operation was carried out by personnel from the Begumpet Traffic Police, Forest Department, GHMC’s Urban Biodiversity Division, and local representatives.
Officials said that the branches of the tree were scientifically trimmed before transportation to facilitate its safe relocation. The authorities added that continuous monitoring and post-translocation care would be undertaken to ensure the tree’s survival and healthy growth.
