The Jan Shikshan Sansthan under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, jointly with TVS Community College, organised a capacity building programme for trainees of vocational skill training at the Gandhi Museum.
According to a press release issued here on Thursday, during 2025, the Jan Shikshan Sansthan had trained 1,792 candidates in various vocational trades across Madurai district, particularly benefiting youth and women from rural areas.
To commemorate this achievement, a special programme was organised on the theme “Tamil Nadu – pathway to employment and economic progress.”
Rajya Sabha MP Christopher Tilak was the chief guest and in his speech, he emphasised the importance of skill development for youth and women and highlighted how small entrepreneurs contribute significantly to household income and, in turn, strengthen the national economy.
He encouraged the trainees to utilise their skills productively and emerge as self-reliant individuals and entrepreneurs. As part of the programme, certificates were distributed to successful candidates who completed various short-term vocational training courses. Around 180 trainees participated.
TVS group Director (CSR) R. Subramanian, Board members of Jan Shikshan Sansthan, officers from vocational training institutes, trainers and other dignitaries participated in the event.
Sansthan Director Jeffrey welcomed the gathering and TVS Aroyga Trust HR-Head Gokul proposed the vote of thanks, the release said.
