The prison staff of the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru have lodged a complaint against three undertrials booked for terror charges for allegedly obstructing security personnel during routine frisking procedures after returning from hospital visits.
According to the complaint filed by prison superintendent Karna B. Kshatri through staff member Shivu L.S. Tippeswamy, undertrial prisoners are frequently taken outside the prison premises for medical treatments and court appearances. Before re-entering the jail premises, they undergo mandatory security checks by Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) personnel.
The complaint stated that on May 16, around 10 a.m., a few undertrial prisoners were taken to a hospital for treatment. After returning to the prison around 2.30 p.m., the accused — identified as Farioz Pasha, Muzamil Sharif, and Mohaboob Pasha — allegedly refused to cooperate with the frisking procedures and created a ruckus during the inspection process. Despite resistance, the prisoners were later subjected to security checks after three hours and allowed inside the prison around 5.15 p.m.
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered, and further legal action has been initiated against the accused prisoners. The prison department is considering alternative options for inmates to eliminate the need for escorting them to routine medical checkups and court hearings.
