Palani taluk police have arrested two persons in connection with the robbery at the residence of a 72-year-old woman who was living alone. The duo robbed her of cash and a television set.

Police said Karuppathal was living alone in her house in Palani. The accused K. Tharunkumar and M. Lokeswaran broke open the door and entered the house during the early hours on June 15. When she attempted to raise an alarm, one of them tied her. The other robbed ₹10,000 in cash and a new television set.

Karuppathal informed her neighbour, who called the police. She was admitted to the Government Hospital for treatment. The accused were remanded in judicial custody.
